Windstar Cruises has stretched and renovated its Star Pride ship by about 26 metres as part of a $250 million initiative. Canada Jetlines is in talks with Qatar Airways about possibility launching non-stop flights between Toronto and Doha. "Qatar is not only a growing and exciting destination, it is also home to the world's best airport, Hamad International Airport, which provides seamless connectivity to Qatar Airways' superior global network," said Eddy Doyle, Jetlines' president & CEO.

Travel industry veteran Stéphanie Bishop has announced her retirement, according to a press release issued Thursday (March 16).
After 15 years as the managing director of the Globus family of brands’ Toronto office, Bishop is set to depart the company in May, having hand-selected a new leadership team to oversee Canada’s sales, marketing and finances for Globus, Cosmos and Avalon Waterways.

Flair has filed a $50-million lawsuit against several plane-leasing companies over the "unlawful" seizure of four of its aircraft last weekend. The move comes after the low-cost carrier fell behind in its payments. The filing claims Flair's lessor "secretly" found a better deal for its Boeing 737 Maxes and "set Flair up" for default, amounting to an illegal termination of leases.

This summer marks a "turning point" in Air France’s long-haul flight schedule, the airline said Thursday (March 16), releasing its season schedule. This summer, Air France will operate 50 weekly flights to five Canadians cities. The airline, notably, will introduce a new Paris-Ottawa flight on May 27.

The Canadian travel industry has lost a colleague who is being remembered as someone who was full of energy and kindness.
Inderjit Handa, owner of Ottawa-based Handa Travel Group, sadly passed away on Jan. 26, 2023. “Every once in a while, you meet someone radically different than the rest. My father was one of those people,” wrote Alex Handa, Inderjit’s son.

Canada is still number one in Cuba’s books as 290,000 Canadians flocked to the island country during the first few months of 2023. Cuba’s Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, met with trade media in Toronto on Tuesday (March 14) to share updates. In addition to new infrastructure (like better Wi-Fi), Cuba is aiming to digitize its tourist visa by October.
