The head of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which oversees Toronto Pearson airport, says the facility is seeing “measurable improvements” in flight delays, cancellations, luggage delivery and wait times. CEO Deborah Flint addressed media on Friday (Aug. 5) at YYZ.

In its latest operational update, WestJet’s on Friday (Aug. 5) indicated that it “led amongst major Canadian air carriers” from July 1-31 in terms of flight completion times. WestJet completed 97.5% of all scheduled flights that month, with 82% of scheduled and operated flights arriving within 45 minutes of scheduled times, according to Cirium.

Canada’s newest airline has postponed its launch date as federal regulators continue their licensing evaluation. Canada Jetlines, which was supposed to begin flights out of Toronto Pearson to Winnipeg and Moncton on Aug. 15, says its inaugural day has been rescheduled to Aug. 29, 2022.
