GTAA asks feds to “temporarily pause” airport testing; int'l traffic set to increase by 50%

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is asking the federal government to temporarily pause random testing on arrival in airports until upgrades to Ottawa’s ArriveCan app have been made. In a statement on Thursday (June 9), the GTAA, which oversees operations at Toronto Pearson airport, noted that international passenger numbers are set to increase by 50 per cent “in a few days.”

Only 3% of travellers at YYZ and YVR are waiting 30+ minutes in line, feds say

"More help is on its way!" That was the message Transport Minister Omar Alghabra had for travellers on Wednesday (June 8) as Ottawa works at reducing wait times at Canada’s airports. Delays at Pearson airport are “not acceptable,” says Toronto mayor

Toronto Mayor John Tory has joined the chorus of travellers who are fed up with the long wait times currently plaguing Toronto Pearson International Airport. “The situation at the airport is not acceptable as it presently is. It’s just not acceptable,” Tory told reporters on Tuesday (June 7). “This is not just a Toronto problem. [Pearson airport] is the gateway to all of Canada.”
