Sunwing landed at Mazatlán’s International Airport on Nov. 5 with close to 400 tourists "eager to enjoy an unforgettable vacation on 12 miles of sandy and warm beaches," the Mazatlán's Tourism Board said on Friday.
These were their first two flights of the season for Sunwing and Boeing 737-800 planes will continue flying through the winter season from 10 Canadian cities, including Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Québec City, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary.
"We continue welcoming Canadians to Mazatlán - their home away from home. Tourists will enjoy a renovated Golden Zone, boardwalk, and Historic District. Mazatlán is a vibrant city with lots of cultural activities and superb dining," said Carlos Berdegué, VP of the Mazatlán Hotel Association.
With the arrival of the cruise ships in September and the Sunwing flights this week, "all tourist markets are back to Mazatlán now," the tourism board said, adding that the destination "still operates under strict COVID-19 protocols."
