Reno Tahoe chooses Canuckiwi to lead Canadian strategy

Reno Tahoe, “The Biggest Little City,” has selected Vancouver-based Canuckiwi Consulting to lead its destination marketing in Canada.

The move comes as the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority aims to inspire Canadians to visit “where the largest alpine lake collides with the Biggest Little City in the World” through creative consumer marketing, travel trade, and media partnerships.

Northern Nevada’s impressive lineup of events and live entertainment, paired with the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada and surrounding outdoor amenities, are an enticing and inviting opportunity for international travellers seeking new experiences,” stated Mike Larragueta, Interim President/CEO.

Canuckiwi specializes in representing U.S. destinations and already has Travel Nevada and North Lake Tahoe as clients in Canada.

“Partnering with Reno Tahoe is a natural fit,” stated Corey Marshall, principal, Canuckiwi Consulting. “Reno itself offers a value proposition for Canadian travellers providing fantastic accommodation offerings coupled with unique experiences such as catching a wave in Downtown Reno, climbing the world’s tallest artificial rock climbing wall on the outside of the Whitney Peak Hotel or satisfying taste buds through the growing number of delectable cuisines, craft breweries, distilleries and tasting rooms.”

Canadians have multiple gateways through which to access Reno Tahoe including a one-stop flight into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) from most Canada’s major cities.

Travelling to the area through Sacramento (SMF), San Francisco (SFO) or San Jose (SJC) allows visitors to experience a mix of California’s cities, coastline and wine country before heading up to the Sierra Nevada mountains and across into Reno. 

Departing out of Las Vegas (LAS) allows Canadians to incorporate a multi-day road trip from California through Nevada.

Highlights of Reno’s upcoming 2023 events include The Great Reno Balloon Race (Sept. 8-10, 2023), National Championship Air Races (Sept. 13-17, 2023) and the World Famous Outhouse Races (October 7-8, 2023).

Before the end of November, Reno will also host the Broadway show, The Lion King, and live entertainers Sublime, Tim McGraw, Dustin Lynch, The Killers, Sting, The Offspring, Cheap Trick, Ice Cube and Dana Carvey.
