Visit Detroit has selected Toronto-based Moreno + Company as its public relations agency for the Canadian market.
As Detriot looks to make new overtures to Canadian visitors, Moreno + Company will serve as the conduit to sharing compelling stories from The Motor City with an expanded Canadian audience.
“Moreno + Company are fantastic storytellers, which is why Visit Detroit selected them to help share our story directly to our Canadian industry partners and travel advisors,” stated Jennifer Ollinger, manager of domestic and international tourism at Visit Detroit, in a press release. “We think Moreno + Company shares Detroit’s spirit of creativity and innovation, and we’re excited to work closely with them to share that essence with Canadians.”
Catalina Gordon, vice-president, travel trade division of Moreno + Company, called the collaboration "a natural fit."
“Detroit has an uncanny knack for reinvention: from fur trading post to harbour of the Great Migration to icon of art deco and beaux art architecture, the city continues to evolve as a hub for folks seeking a fresh start. Mirroring our own reinvention as a well-rounded communications agency, the story of Detroit is one we can’t wait to tell," said Gordon.
Windsor’s American cousin is all about building bridges – between the past and future, between innovation and tradition, and between Canada and the United States.
As the busiest border crossing between the two countries, parts of the character of Detroit may seem familiar to many Canadians.
From Henry Ford to Motown, Madonna and Eminem, and of course the legendary Maple Leafs-Red Wings rivalry, Detroit is already an indelible part of the cultural consciousness of the Canadian consumer.
Yet, there is so much more beyond motors and music waiting to be discovered in this UNESCO-recognized City of Design.
Detroit is a historic metropolitan hub where rich musical, artistic, and industrial legacies mingle with a modern, adventurous spirit and local culture unlike any other. With renewed investment and one of America’s most diverse demographics, Detroit is an energetic destination that both honours the past and embraces the future.
The destination’s thriving culinary scene is evident through recently opened and soon-to-open restaurants in metro Detroit including Basan, Bar Pigalle, Bohemia, Detroit Seafood Spot, Beppe, Ima, and Bonchon.
A USD $33 million redevelopment project will see The Mosaic, a 105,000-square-foot food hall with an accompanying rooftop bar open just north of Eastern Market.
“Detroit is truly a city that moves the world, and moves travellers when they visit,” stated Moyer. “Detroit has been America’s best-kept secret for too long. Working with Moreno + Company, it’s time we rolled out the red carpet for our Canadian friends as we invite them to discover The Motor City as they’ve never known it before.”
