The Dominican Republic has updated its entry requirements, which now state that foreign visitors must have round-trip air tickets.

The update was shared by the Dominican Republic’s tourism office on May 18. Visitors without a return ticket must at least show their return ticket to their final destination.

There is, of course, an exception for foreigners who live as a permanent resident in the Dominican Republic, as well as those who have documentation (such as working visa) that allows them to stay in the country, legally, for longer periods.

Cruise passengers are also exempt because they already have a different status as temporary visitor, for a period of time.

The policy is part of the D.R.’s General Law of Migration as it adds measures to guarantee an effective status of foreign passengers.
