Sinorama Holidays’ Markham location voluntarily terminated its Ontario Travel Industry Act registration effective Aug. 8, one day after Quebec’s Office of Consumer Protection denied the company a renewed permit to do business in that province.
The Closure Advisory will be updated on TICO's website with more information about future travel and the Travel Compensation Fund.
A brief statement on the Sinorama’s website reads:
“We are making a voluntary termination and trying to refile an application for entering the industry again. TICO will ensure that consumers who purchased travel services from Sinorama Holidays Inc. in Ontario will receive their travel services or refunds.”
OPC denies Quebec permit renewal
On Aug. 7, the OPC denied the renewal of Sinorama’s travel agency permit in Quebec, after advising Sinorama on July 24 that its permit would not be renewed on July 31 as it found that the company was not in a position to comply with provisions of the Quebec Travel Agents Act related to its management of money given to it by its clients.
