The Mexico Tourism Board is preparing to launch a new training and loyalty rewards program for travel agents in Canada and the U.S.
VisitMexicoUniversity.com is expected to roll-out in the coming weeks, according to Rodrigo Esponda, director of the MTB in Canada. He said the idea is to foster training on the product in a "very interactive way."
The program will focus more on experiences than destinations, he explained - for example, weddings, gastronomy, culture, spas and nature - offering guidance for agents on how to sell these types of trips to Mexico.
Upon completion, agents will be certified Mexico specialists and eligible for various rewards by registering their bookings.
Not only will incentives be hosted in cooperation with various destinations within Mexico, the tourism board is also in discussions with tour operators about how there can be cross-benefits from their respective loyalty programs.
Esponda said that when the program is up and running, registration will be simple and straightforward. It is expected to be available in French in 2015.
