Transat Distribution Canada (TDC) has announced that Susan Bowman, it’s vice-president of marketing and industry relations, will retire after 12 years at Transat.
Her last day will be on April 7, 2023 and a recruitment process to fill her position is underway.
The news was shared by Karine Gagnon, general manager of TDC, in a letter sent to TDC members and partners on Wednesday (Feb. 22).
Susan is concluding an “impressive” career in the travel industry, Gagnon wrote, having held positions in both retail and wholesale, in areas of marketing, sales, industry relations, operations and loyalty.
She worked for several large organizations before joining TDC in 2011.
An "essential asset to our leadership team"
“Susan has been an essential asset to our leadership team,” Gagnon wrote. “Her keen eye for opportunity, her consistent focus around customer experiences and her passion for what she likes to call “home” (Transat) have made her a key player in our organization. In her role, she collaborated with many of you on different fronts, and I am sure you could appreciate her professionalism and experience in our industry.”
In recent years, Susan "brilliantly" paved the way to integrating new digital tools and promotional programs, enabling TDC‘s travel professionals and travel agency owners to be best positioned and equipped to take on the pent-up demand for travel, Gagnon wrote.
In 2022, she led negotiations that won TDC its membership with Virtuoso. Susan has also been responsible for the Agent@Home program and her last major project will be the launch of TDC‘s digital gift card program, which is planned for early July, Gagnon said.
“On behalf of our entire team, I would like to sincerely thank Susan for her commitment and contribution to TDC and Transat over the years,” Gagnon wrote. “Always striving for excellence, she will have left her mark and I am certain that she will be missed by her colleagues, as well as our travel agency owners.”
“I would like to wish Susan a very happy and well-deserved retirement as she enters this new stage of her life.”
