Sandra Mallette is leaving her role as Canadian business development manager for RIU Hotels & Resorts – a position she held for almost twelve years.
In fact, the well-known travel industry pro is also leaving travel and tourism altogether to pursue a career in “the world sports.”
"It was very difficult to make this decision," the now ex-BDM of RIU told PAX Nouvelles, PAX’s Quebec bureau. “But who knows, maybe I will come back one day.
Mallette expressed her gratitude to RIU, to Sunwing Vacations (exclusive partner of the Spanish chain in Canada) “and of course to the travel agents.”
A graduate in travel marketing from the École Pierre-Dupuis, Mallette has spent most of her career in the travel and tourism industry, notably acting as a destination representative and then as a representative for Vacances Tours Mont-Royal (between 2000 and 2007) and as BDM for Sandals Resorts (between 2007 and 2009) before representing RIU more than a decade.
