How long have you been a travel agent? 13 years

What is your specialty? 

Family, friends and referrals – Ireland and world adventure tours organized by the best tour operators to experience culture, history, geography and architecture, making the most of your time. Also weddings, beach holidays, religious and sports events.

What lessons has the COVID-19 pandemic taught you about yourself and the travel industry?

The travel industry tour operators, suppliers, ACTA and IATA have been excellent in dealing with cancellations due to COVID-19, providing new travel opportunities for clients and many learning opportunities for travel consultants. Personally I have been persistent in pursuing the best outcome for clients and learning about the world.

What has been your biggest challenge during the pandemic?

Learning about the world, keeping up to date with developments, and decreasing/increasing COVID-19 numbers in Canada and the world. Maintaining my physical activity level with exercise and sports.

What challenges, do you think, lie ahead as the travel economy gradually re-opens?

Providing clients with accurate information and my personal experience with travelling safely.

Tell us about one good thing that has come out of this situation?

Travel Professionals International, both head office and provincial office, has organized excellent support and teaching sessions. Colleagues from across the country have been in contact, virtually, supporting each other.

What does the travel industry need to do to restore consumer confidence? 

Provide absolutely accurate information about COVID 19, respecting their concerns.

What other travel trends do you think may emerge from this situation?

Until there is a reliable vaccine, perhaps travel within provinces or the country.

What advice do you have for travel advisors who are struggling during this tough time? 

Keep in touch with positive colleagues and stay on top of COVID-19 updates.

When border restrictions are lifted and the risk is low, where are you travelling first?

Ireland with family and the Dragonboat Festival.
