This Friday (Jan. 14), Julie Golding will step down from the position of Director of Business Development that she had held for nine years at Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts.
At the same time, she will also leave the travel and tourism industry - where she has been active for more than 25 years - to embrace a whole new career.
In an interview with PAX, Golding was emotional as she prepares to leave an industry that she has participated in for a quarter of a century. Several relationships were formed during those years, she said.
"Of course I made friends," said Golding, promising to maintain links with them. At the same time, she wishes to express her gratitude to all the pros with whom she has collaborated with over the years.
Before taking her final bow, Golding wishes to express her admiration for the resilience that members of the industry have shown since the beginning of the current crisis.
She encouraged the pros to maintain this mindset until the light at the end of the tunnel is (finally) reached.
A new chapter
Golding acknowledged that the pandemic played a role in her decision to reinvent herself. “It made me realize that, personally, I didn't want to travel so much anymore," she said.
That being said, Golding pointed out that the decision to change her career is entirely her own. She thought about it carefully, she said, and also carefully prepared for it.
“I decided to take a mortgage broker course ,” she explained. I got my license and I'm going: I intend to devote myself to this 100 per cent.
PAX wishes Golding the best of luck in this new challenge.
Prior to joining Palace Resorts, Golding worked for several companies in the travel industry, including Air Canada Vacations (2010-2013), Tours Mont-Royal Vacations (2004-2008), Blue Bay Resorts (2008), Transat (2004-2008), Signature Vacations (2001-2004) and Montreal Airport (1999-2001).
Who to contact now?
While the territory represented by Golding covered Quebec and Atlantic Canada, Palace Resorts has not yet appointed a successor to its French-speaking BDM – and in the current context, we do not know when this will be done.
In the meantime, advisors can contact inside sales at InsideSales@palaceresorts.com. They can also follow the page intended for professionals of Palace Resorts on Facebook.
