"An exceptionally generous friend": Christine Killinger passes away

A valued member of the travel and tourism community has passed away.

Christine Killinger died suddenly from organ failure on March 23 while vacationing with her cousin in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, according to an online obituary that was posted on May 4.

Killinger, born June 9, 1947, was the founder and owner of Montreal-based travel agency Voyages Tourex.

It also operated the tour operator Unique Tour and SVP (Source de Votre Personnel ), an employment agency specializing in tourism.

Killinger was also heavily involved in industry associations, particularly Skäl International. She was notably the president and national representative of Skäl Montreal for several years.

Along with her successes in the travel and tourism sector, Killinger was also a valued teacher for 30 years at Concordia University.

“She will be dearly missed”

Throughout her successful career, Killinger forged deep relationships with those around her.

“Christine was a dear and exceptionally generous friend to so many people here and around the world. She was close to her family in Canada, U.S.A., France, Slovakia and Austria where she was born. She was a living example of what goodness is supposed to mean and lived her life to the fullest,” reads her online obituary.

“Christine was an animal lover and rescued many cats and dogs while donating to charities. She will be dearly missed by her husband and extended cherished family members, friends in many walks of life and so many people with whom she worked.”
