The Travel Industry of Ontario (TICO) is remembering its first Chairperson, Mr. Frank V. Dennis, who sadly passed away on Jan. 15, 2022 at 80 years old.
“On behalf of the Travel Industry of Ontario, its Board of Directors, and all employees, we are saddened by the recent passing of Mr. Frank Dennis,” TICO said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan. 18).
Frank was the first Chairperson of TICO’s Board of Directors in 1997 and was “recognized as a leader within the travel industry,” TICO said.
“He was instrumental in setting TICO’s Vision and Mission for a strong and fair consumer protection mandate, while supporting and embracing a vibrant travel sector.”
Recognized as a pioneer in the travel industry, Frank will be remembered for his many accomplishments, as well as the legacy he leaves for the next generation of leaders.
“We share our heart-felt condolences with Frank’s family and friends,” TICO said.
Frank, who previously enjoyed a successful career in the food industry, was also Uniglobe Travel (Eastern Canada)’s past owner and CEO.
He purchased and owned the franchise rights to the Uniglobe Eastern Canada Region from 1991 to 2016.
“Frank was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be missed but never forgotten,” Uniglobe said in a statement earlier this week.
Uniglobe’s Sonia McKeon, director of marketing and supplier relations, worked with Frank for more than 25 years.
“He was a great boss, leader and mentor but best of all, a friend,” McKeon told PAX on Monday (Jan. 17). “He treated everyone that he knew with respect and made the office environment a fun place to be.”
