Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened to the public today at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Disneyland Resort.
The highly-anticipated attraction will open at Walt Disney World Resort on Aug. 29.
Among the out-of-this-world features of the new land is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers' Run, taking guests on a thrilling, interactive smuggling mission aboard a starship.
Shopping, dining and entertainment will also be offered on the planet of Batuu, a destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim on the frontier of Wild Space.
The Disney FastPass+ service will not initially be offered for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which opens Aug. 29.
Good to know
According to the Disney Parks Blog, guests wishing to experience the new attraction between May 31 and June 23 will need a reservation (which can be obtained by booking a stay at one of three Disneyland hotels), as well as valid theme park admission. There's no standby line, so unless you have a reservation, you won't be getting in.
Those with reservations can check into the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland two hours prior to the reservation start time and go to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge entrance as directed once the reservation time starts.
After June 23, reservations to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge won't be necessary. Of course, as a brand new attraction, Disney anticipates the park will be busy, so a virtual queueing system will be implemented.
According to a blog via Disney's website, "the Disneyland app will have a dedicated module, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Status and Access, available from the main page, on which you can request to join a boarding group to visit the land, once you have entered the park. Boarding groups will be sent a push notification when it is their turn to enter the land and they can monitor status of boarding groups from the app. There will also be the ability to join a boarding group from select locations inside Disneyland park, if you are not using the app."
