Nathalie Guay, a well-known industry figure in English Canada, will no longer serve as general manager of the Quebec-based Association of Tour Operators of Quebec (ATOQ) after September 30, 2022.
Due to budgetary constraints, the association reluctantly announced the elimination of Guay's position.
The association says it has faced the same challenges as other associations - loss of members, financial difficulties - forcing the elimination of the only paid position in the organization. (members of the ATOQ board of directors all act in a volunteer capacity.)
Before hiring Nathalie Guay, ATOQ spent a lot of time looking for the "rare gem" who would succeed Éric Johnston, the association's former executive director.
A true passion
ATOQ President Joane Tétreault highlights the exceptional work done by Nathalie Guay over the past 20 months of crisis management. She says Guay's dedication, leadership, and determination make her “a true passion for the tourism industry.”
Nathalie Guay shares the following about her time at ATOQ:
"It was a wonderful experience to support members and collaborate with all tour operators. I am blessed to have had this opportunity. Joane and Claude [Joane Tétreault and Claude St-Pierre, the President and VP of ATOQ] did an excellent job of supporting me on all issues."
During the pandemic, ATOQ says it supported members in multiple ways, advocating for their interests or obtaining government support on several occasions.
In addition, the Association provided conferences, webinars, market research, newsletters, and other training opportunities to its members.
ATOQ also continues to be a member of the Consumer Protection Bureau's advisory committee, which oversees the application of the Act and the Travel Agent Regulations, as well as the management of the FICAV, the compensation fund for travel agents' customers.
Nathalie Guay will remain in her role until September 30. Until then, she may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org, and after September 30, via her social networks.
