While the exact plan is not yet known, Disney appears to be preparing for the next expansion of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, following reports of a 235-acre land purchase by the entertainment giant in late December.
The Lewiston Tribune reported that the $6 million purchase took place in late December through Compass Rose Corporation (a Disney subsidiary), with Disney purchasing the parcel of land adjacent to its Oak Trail Golf Course. No official announcement has been made regarding the future purpose of the land.
According to the report, the purchase is the latest in a series of large-scale land acquisitions over the last few years: in January 2019, Disney’s 215 Celebration Place LLC bought 1,575 acres for $11 million in Osceola County, following the purchase of 965 acres for $23 million from nearby B-K Ranch in December 2018.
