Sun Palace resort in Cancun has officially reopened following a $40 million renovation that included a complete redesign of all 247 rooms and suites, a reimagined lobby, new meeting space features and new dining options.
Palace Resorts calls the redesign "a complete transformation to [the resort's] interiors and exteriors.”
“We are extremely proud of the work that was done to complete the unveiling of Sun Palace, one of our most popular adult-only resorts and one that has been recognized in the industry among the top hotels for romance as well as one of the top resorts in Cancun as designated by the TripAdvisor community,” stated Gibran Chapur, executive vice president for Palace Resorts. “After 13 years of continued success, we felt it was time to modernize and revamp this property to ensure it meets the demands and likes of our guests and continues to be in a caliber all its own.”
New dining options at the all-inclusive, "couples-only" property includes a Brazilian-style steakhouse called Fuego; Tratto (spearheaded by Michelin-starred Chef Giuseppe Lannotti); a Thai eatery; as well as a contemporary Mexican restaurant called Aurora.
Exuding an airy, earthy, zen-like environment, the renovated resort incorporates relaxing textures of natural stone, marble, and wood sourced locally from the region.
In addition to having complimentary Wi-Fi access, guests at Sun Palace can also access a nightly aromatherapy menu, with each suite featuring CHI blow dryers, CHI flatirons and CHI personal products.
Cancun is currently open for tourism as north Quintana Roo recently advanced to a "yellow traffic light" in its COVID-19 reopening strategy.
This has allowed popular sun destinations such as Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Riviera Maya, Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Puerto Morelos and Holbox to increase hotel and capacity at restaurants, shopping malls, theme parks, spas and golf courses to 60 per cent.
