RIU Hotels & Resorts will cap off 2019 with the completion of renovations at Riu Palace Riviera Maya hotel in Playa del Carmen, which has seen a total overhaul of the outside areas and refurbishment of the communal areas and rooms at the five-star beachfront property.
Post-refurbishment, Riu Palace Riviera Maya has a total of 460 rooms, four swimming pools, six restaurants, five bars and extends its range of entertainment options for both adults and children.
In addition to all the novelties that the refurbishment of Riu Palace Riviera Maya brings, there is also the exclusive 24-hour All-Inclusive RIU Service, which allows guests to enjoy food and drink at any time of day.
What's new at Riu Palace Riviera Maya
Rooms have been stripped of their slab tiles and carpets and laid with ceramic parquet flooring, matching the light tones of the walls and décor.
This new style can also be noted in the changes made to the restaurants, with the buffet being separated from the tables for greater guest comfort. As well as having added Italian restaurant Il Portico to its dining options, Riu Palace Riviera Maya will continue to offer different and varied culinary choices, including Don Rafael, the main international cuisine live-cooking restaurant; Yashima, a restaurant specializing in Japanese delicacies; the Mexican Agave restaurant; Chilis, the pool restaurant; and the glamorous Krystal, which offers the best fusion dishes. The resort also offers Pepe’s Food and the Grill bar in the swimming pool area and Riu Palace Riviera Maya also now has a café/ice-cream parlour called Capuchino.
The swimming pool area has similarly undergone extensive changes, now with three large pools, including one with a swim-up bar. Likewise, in the outside areas the youngest guests can also enjoy the RiuLand kids’ club in fully renovated and extended facilities, with a children’s pool with slides and water games. Adults will continue enjoying their daytime and evening entertainment options offered by the entertainment staff, as well as a new RiuFit area run by specially-trained staff. All guests will also have free entry into the Riu Party events held at Riu Tequila, less than a kilometre away. These parties gather together guests from the six hotels with entertainment for the entire family.
After the refurbishment of Riu Vallarta and the extension of Riu Emerald Bay, the refurbishment of Riu Palace Riviera Maya is the chain’s third largest project in Mexico this year.
