Playa Hotels & Resorts has recorded impressive growth over the last five years.

Not only has the brand jumped from having seven hotels to 20 luxury properties in that timeframe, but it's now a household name down in the Dominican Republic, where it operates five all-inclusive resorts.

Included in that mix is the newly-renovated, all-inclusive Hilton La Romana Adults Only, not to be confused with its sister property right next door, the Hilton La Romana Family, which opens this December.

On an invitation from Playa Hotels & Resorts, PAX will be in Playa Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, this week to get intimate look at the property's stunning new features. We will also be heading to Cap Cana, where Playa currently operates the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana (all-ages) and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana (adults-only), both opening Nov. 1, 2019.

That land was previously home to nothing but mangroves; Playa bought the space and has overseen both mega-projects from the ground up.

Hilton La Romana used to be Dreams La Romana, a family-friendly resort that had one small section devoted to adults-only amenities and activities.

Upon acquisition from Playa, the decision was made to cut the existing resort down the middle, devoting one half (Hilton La Romana Family) to families, and the other half (Hilton La Romana Adults Only) to adults.

The Hilton La Romana Adults Only is currently open and now taking bookings, but the Hilton La Romana Family won't open until Dec. 1, 2019.

In a previous interview with PAX, Rose Cosentino, VP of sales for Canada at Playa Hotels and Resorts, wants agents to understand that these renovations weren't just a matter of making a few small decorative changes in the rooms.

“We’re spending the money, and I don’t mean a little,” she said, noting that guests will notice significant improvements to the properties' feel and functionality.

Both Hilton La Romana properties are 20 minutes from La Romana Airport and 45 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.

PAX will be on property until Oct. 4, giving you an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at what your clients can look forward to at the Hilton La Romana Adults Only!
