Club Med Québec Charlevoix will be the first resort in the brand's portfolio to receive the Rainbow Registered accreditation with Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce ahead of it’s opening in December.

The national accreditation allows LGBTQ+ friendly businesses and organizations to be easily recognizable as an establishment that has met a stringent set of standards to ensure that guest feel welcomed and safe.

In a study, researchers found that majority of participants felt that they needed to think about their safety and well-being as members of the LGBTQ + community when choosing a destination.

Additionally, they’ve experienced situations where they did not feel welcome or had unpleasant experiences at a facility they were staying at.

“Club Med is proud to be a safe and inclusive place for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Vincent Giraud, vice-president, managing director of Club Med Canada and North America Sales Operations. “With Club Med Québec Charlevoix opening this December, we are thrilled to be receiving the Rainbow Registration in this next phase of our mission to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our guests and employees.”

For more than 70 years, Club Med says it has made it a "top priority" to ensure guests and employees feel safe, welcomed and accepted.

"As the community grows and evolves, they are committed to educating and training employees to promote inclusion in their day-to-day operations and beyond," Club Med said in a statement.
