Dominican Republic requiring negative COVID-19 test for all visitors; AIC unveils flexible booking
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana.
Pax Global Media

The Dominican Republic now requires all incoming international travellers to present a negative COVID-19 test result dating back no more than five days prior to arrival.

The mandatory requirement came into effect on July 30th.

If a traveller is unable to do so, an onsite test will be conducted by local health officials at the airport. In the event that a traveler tests positive for COVID-19 at the airport, the government of the Dominican Republic has stated that he/she will have to quarantine in a government quarantine center.

The AIC Hotel Group has issued an update regarding its properties in the Dominican, to ensure a stress-free vacation experience for guests.

Given the recent government mandate, the following options are being offered to guests with individual bookings at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana for July 30 or onwards:

  • Guests who booked their stay prior to April 2020 and test positive for COVID-19 prior to their trip can reschedule their hotel stay for up to one year from the original check-in date.
  • Guests who booked their stay in or after April 2020 and test positive for COVID-19 prior to their trip can either reschedule or cancel their hotel stay up to 24 hours prior to arrival with no penalty.
  • Guests who do not get tested prior to travel and end up testing positive at a Dominican Republic airport and have to quarantine at a government center can reschedule their hotel stay for up to one year from the original check-in date.

If a guest does not wish to get tested prior to travel or at the Dominican Republic airport, AIC  will allow them to relocate to one of the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotels in Mexico at their original booked rate.

If the rate at the relocated property is lower, AIC can offer an upgrade to the next available room category.

The above offer is not available to contracted groups. Those with contracted groups should reach out to their sales contact to discuss any changes or available options.
