Today (Nov. 22), MSC Cruises Canada launched FLY & CRUISE packages for its winter 2021/22 sailing programme in the South Caribbean where MSC Seaview will be based during the season for 7 and 14-night cruises from St. Maarten.
MSC Cruises Canada will operate a dedicated charter flight to St. Maarten each Sunday from Montreal starting Dec. 19 along with an allocation of seats on flights operating each Sunday from Toronto to St Maarten starting Jan. 2.
The 7-night packages will include flight, transfers between the airport and MSC Seaview in St. Maarten, a cruise in the cabin of your choice including our award-winning MSC Yacht Club.
For added convenience, MSC Cruises will have dedicated representative service at departure in Montreal and Toronto airports.
MSC Seaview will operate two different 7-night itineraries; the first itinerary will depart the port of Philipsburg, St Maarten’s capital; with calls at Bridgetown, Barbados, Castries in St Lucia; Saint George, Grenada; Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, before returning to St Maarten.
The second itinerary will call again at Bridgetown, Roseau, Dominica; St John’s in Antigua and Barbuda; Road Town in Tortola and then back to St Maarten.
These cruises are also available with a 14 night “cruise only” option, and for added flexibility, 7 and 14 nights from Bridgetown each Tuesday.
“The southern Caribbean is an area much loved by Canadian cruisers and we have worked hard to put together options that would allow us to confirm our usual winter season here, of course supported by our industry leading health and safety protocol. The addition of our FLY & CRUISE packages will make these new itineraries even more accessible for our Canadian guests and allow us to offer them an incredible cruise holiday this winter, calling at some of the most beautiful islands in the South Caribbean on board MSC Seaview – the perfect ship for sailing in these waters," said Ian Patterson, country manager, MSC Cruises Canada.
A concept that works well
FLY & CRUISE is a concept that "has worked very well in many other markets," Patterson told PAX, and it's a first for MSC in North America.
"Canadian consumer confidence in cruise vacations is growing as guests see that the industry-leading protocols we have in place, have been seen to be successful," Patterson added. "This confidence will only grow with MSC Cruises offering the complete package including air and transfers. Packaged vacations have long been the chosen solution for Canadian vacationers, so travel advisors can offer the added comfort of a one-stop-shop to their guests, with the confidence that the resources of our Global Air Department are managing all aspects of the experience."
Launching the offer in Montreal was an "obvious fit" as these sailings have "historically resonated very well with the Quebec market," Patterson said.
The availability of flights from Toronto is also an opportunity for MSC Cruises to offer a unique package on one of its newest ships with exciting itineraries.
"As air becomes available, we are looking at extending this for other gateways across Canada and also view this as a first step to offering even more packaged cruises for Canadians," Patterson said.
For travel advisors
For travel advisors, air is commissionable at 10 per cent, including the transfers and air taxes. The cruise is commissionable at regular cruise commission and, for a limited time, there's a 3 per cent bonus cruise commission.
For a limited time, an ALL-IN and WI-FI promo is available at an additional $120 CAD pp for 7 night cruises. This includes EASY Plus drink package and Wi-Fi for two devices.
In most ports, guests will be able to go ashore independently, while for select specific destinations, guests will need to go ashore with an MSC Cruises protected shore excursion.
More specific details will soon be available from the MSC Cruises website, travel agents and the line’s contact centre.
MSC Seaview with 2,066 guest cabins has one of the cruise industry’s highest ratio of open space per passenger and features a beach condo concept that brings guests closer to the sea thanks to special design elements that make the most of the warmer weather.
