Riverside Luxury Cruises has acquired four more former Crystal Cruises river ships – MS Bach, MS Ravel, MS Mahler and MS Debussy.

This builds the fleet for the German start-up company, which acquired Crystal Mozart – which has been renamed Riverside Mozart – in November 2022.

The recently-acquired ships will now be known as Riverside Bach, Riverside Ravel, Riverside Mahler and Riverside Debussy.

Mozart is set to begin sailing in April 2023 on Danube River itineraries. The Ravel, meanwhile, will sail the Rhone and Saone rivers from Burgundy to Provence and Debussy will sail on the Rhine between Amsterdam and Switzerland.

The Bach and Mahler will begin sailing in 2024, according to reports, and itineraries are expected to be shared later this year.

"We are thrilled by the expansion of our fleet to include these storied vessels," said Gregor Gerlach, founder Riverside Luxury Cruises, in a statement. "This acquisition allows us to expand our itinerary offerings, showcasing a level of space, personalized service and elegance not found with any other river cruise line."

The ships are now available for booking.

Riverside Luxury Cruises is also offering commissions - 21 per cent on all 2023 sailings - and special FAM rates for travel advisors.

The development comes after Crystal ended operations in January 2022 due to financial problems.
