Susan Kooiman departs Transat, Justin Clarey hired to rep Eastern Ontario

Transat’s sales force in Ontario is undergoing a shake-up as one of its long-standing team members steps down to pursue a new opportunity, PAX has learned. 

Susan Kooiman, who has been with Transat for 19 years, is departing the company, effective today (Feb. 24).

Known for her positive energy, resourcefulness and ability to light up a room, Kooiman started her career as a travel advisor more than two decades ago after graduating from Seneca College’s travel and tourism program.

Most recently, she was Transat’s senior business development representative of key accounts, a role that kept her well-connected with many travel agents and agencies.

Kooiman’s next move is still under wraps, but an announcement is forthcoming, she told PAX.

“Although I’m looking forward to my future opportunity, I couldn’t have called a better place home for the last two decades than Transat,” Kooiman said. “I’m forever grateful for the industry experiences and relationships I’ve built over the years.”

Justin Clarey joins team

Meanwhile, a new travel pro has joined team Transat: Justin Clarey has been hired as a business development representative for Eastern Ontario. He officially starts on March 6.

Prior to Transat, Clarey spent six years in the travel industry as both an inside and outside travel advisor. He was also an agency manager at one point.  

These roles have provided him with valuable experience on the challenges and successes shared by travel advisors, he said.

“I'm thrilled and very excited to join such a fabulous team at Transat,” Clarey told PAX. “I can't wait to meet our agents and partners and showcase why I love Transat.”

“I very much look forward to working closely with agents to overcome challenges and celebrate even greater success.”
