After a long wait of 18 months due to the world pandemic, ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop Airlines landed at Mazatlán’s International Airport on Monday (Oct. 25) with 189 tourists eager to enjoy an unforgettable vacation on 12 miles of sandy and warm beaches. It was the first flight of the season.
A modern Boeing 737-800 will continue flying from Edmonton for the rest of this year and starting 2022 the flights will double in frequency until the end of the season in late April.
"Canadians are always welcome in Mazatlán, and it’s the second home for thousands of them. The value of the destination and the wide array of activities and attractions are unmatched." said Oscar Perez, Secretary of Tourism for the state, in a news release.
Tourists will be able to experience the new tourist infrastructure and improvements that Mazatlán developed during the pandemic long break, such as the renovation of the tourist zone, as well as new attractions currently in the works such as the Sea of Cortez Aquarium.
