Several Sunwing flights have been delayed due to a technical issue that is impacting the check-in and boarding process, Sunwing Airlines reported Monday (April 18).
“Our systems provider is experiencing a network-wide system issue which has impacted check-in and boarding, resulting in ongoing flight delays for a number of Sunwing flights,” reads an advisory posted to the carrier’s website.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to have the issue resolved as soon as possible.”
As a result, Sunwing is “strongly” urging customers travelling over the next 12 to 24 hours to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
The issue delayed at least 10 flights departing from Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.
Some of those delays lasted several hours as morning flights were rescheduled for the afternoon while afternoon flights were pushed to the evening, according to Sunwing’s website.
“We are committed to providing further updates on the situation as needed,” reads a statement posted on Sunwing’s Twitter account.
No timeline on when the issue would be fixed has been provided yet.
According to CBC News, the issue has impacted hundreds of customers who are now stuck at their departure airport, or in destination, waiting for instructions.
This is a developing story.
