On July 30, PAL Airlines inaugurated service between Ottawa and St. John's, Newfoundland (via Fredericton and Deer Lake).

PAL took the opportunity to invite a few agents from Ottawa and Gatineau to spend the day in Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick, in collaboration with Fredericton Tourism.

“Despite the rain, the day was pleasant and full of activities. Most of the officers present had not flown for more than 18 months. Everyone seemed very happy to be able to travel," said Louis Gosselin, sales director of PAL Airlines.

The participants, who represented leisure and corporate agencies, were treated to a busy day. Between brunch at the Delta Hotel and dinner downtown, they crisscrossed Fredericton, visiting city hall, art galleries and micro-breweries.

(Did you know that Fredericton has the most micro-breweries in Canada?)

Gosselin noted how travel agents are very important to PAL Airlines.

“They help us a lot in being able to develop our product and make our network known,” he said.

Soon a 30th destination: Val-d'Or

Since July 30, PAL has been offering six flights per week between Ottawa and the Maritime provinces. All of these flights have St. John's, Newfoundland as their final destination.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Ottawa - Fredericton - Deer Lake - St. John's
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: Ottawa - Moncton - Deer Lake - St. John's

"PAL and its partner Air Borealis now offer 10 destinations in Quebec, 18 in the Maritime provinces and Labrador, and now one destination in Ontario: Ottawa," said Gosselin.

On Sept. 12, PAL will add one more destination to its Quebec network: Val-d'Or.
