Flair unveils new routes between Newfoundland & Greater Toronto Area

Flair Airlines has announced new routes launching next summer from St. John's and Deer Lake in Newfoundland.

The low-cost airline will be bringing service to St. John's for the first time as it establishes its first connection between Deer Lake and Toronto.

"Flair Airlines is thrilled to bring our low fares and expand our Atlantic Canada routes, establishing Flair's presence in St. John's and offering the most affordable flights between Toronto to Deer Lake," said Stephen Jones, CEO of Flair, in a press release.

"We are honoured to provide Canadians with affordable travel options and to strengthen our connection with Atlantic Canada, allowing customers in each city to connect with loved ones and explore Canada. Our recent consumer survey revealed that over half of Canadians believe domestic air travel in Canada is unaffordable. As Canada's leading ultra-low fare airline, we are dedicated to breaking down the economic barriers associated with air travel and creating opportunities for domestic travel and tourism within Canada."

The affordable flights between the GTA and Newfoundland and Labrador offer an opportunity to boost tourism in the provincial capital of St. John's and inspire more Canadians to explore the picturesque landscapes of Deer Lake, including Gros Morne National Park.

"Flair is excited to bridge the gap for Newfoundland and Labrador expatriates, providing an affordable and reliable means of travel to connect with their hometowns and loved ones," the airline said.

The new flights come at a time when a recent consumer survey by Flair revealed:

81% of Atlantic Canadians believe air travel in Canada is too expensive.
60% of Atlantic Canadians find Canadian airfares unaffordable.
Nearly half of Atlantic Canadians, 48%, indicated that high airfares limit their domestic travel.
64% of Atlantic Canadians consider price the most essential factor when selecting an airline.
