Delta has plans for free wifi, says CEO

Is free wifi coming soon to Delta Airlines?

During the Skift Global Forum in New York City, Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian said that the airline eventually plans to offer free in-flight wifi, citing customer demand for the service. A date for the commencement of the service has yet to be announced.

Currently, Delta passengers can access free wifi to use messaging apps including iMessage, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

Airlines with free wifi

Among North American carriers, only JetBlue currently offers passengers free wifi; seven other international airlines offer the service, including Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Air China, Philippine Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines and Thailand’s Nok Air.
