Canada Jetlines, on the heels of completing inaugural non-stop flights to Las Vegas and Cancun with its growing fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, has announced a new partnership with Air Miles, one of Canada’s largest loyalty and reward programs.

The leisure carrier’s Chief Commercial Officer Duncan Bureau confirmed the news with PAX on Monday (March 13).

“Canada Jetlines continues to build strategic partnerships with the travel and tourism sector. We are very proud of our new agreement with Air Miles as their millions of collectors are looking for easy and value-based redemption options,” Bureau said. “The entire team at Canada Jetlines are excited to welcome Air Miles collectors onboard our aircraft.”

The update comes just days after the Bank of Montreal (BMO) inked a deal to acquire the Air Miles reward program from LoyaltyOne Co.

For BMO customers, AIR MILES collectors, and partners across the country, the acquisition aims to “reinvigorate” one of Canada’s largest loyalty programs.

AIR MILES is said to have nearly 10 million active collector accounts, representing approximately two-thirds of Canadian households.

That bodes well for onboarding new and repeat customers with Canada Jetlines, which, recently, has seen a "significant increase in sales" since going live on the Amadeus travel platform.

Canadian travel advisors are also now able to view and book Jetlines’ seat inventory via the Sabre Global Distribution System.

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA), meanwhile, has given the green light on several licence applications submitted by carrier.

According to a series of Feb. 1 decisions made by the CTA, the new airline will be allowed to operate scheduled international service to the European community and its member states, as well as Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Lucia.
