Air France-KLM is reportedly eyeing Benjamin Smith, Air Canada’s president, airlines and chief operating officer, as its top candidate to head the airline.
A report by French newspaper Le Monde stated the Air France-KLM nominations committee had named Smith as its preferred candidate for the leadership role, following the departure of chief executive Jean-Marc Janaillac in May after staff rejected a pay offer aimed at ending costly strikes.
No final decision yet
An unnamed senior official at Air France-KLM quoted by Le Monde said that a final decision is yet to be made and that the decision rests with the company’s board of directors.
Air Canada declined to comment on the report.
