Yesterday afternoon, the airline announced that it was rerouting aircraft heading to India, as a result of the Pakistani government shutting down its airspace earlier this afternoon.

One Air Canada flight en route to Delhi on the evening of Feb. 26 was forced to turn back over the Atlantic Ocean and returned to Toronto yesterday (Feb. 27) while a second flight from Vancouver to Delhi that was scheduled to depart last night (Feb 27) was cancelled completely.

The airline's flight to Mumbai last night had to be re-routed as a result of the situation, but was not cancelled.

"Our flexible rebooking policy for customers remains in place. Information will be updated on aircanada.com as it becomes available," said Peter Fitzpatrick, spokesperson, Air Canada, in a statement to PAX.

Air Canada operates daily service from Toronto and Vancouver to Delhi and four times weekly Toronto-Mumbai.
