American Airlines will expand its Western Canada service in 2018, with flights from Vancouver and Calgary to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, while increasing capacity from other Canadian gateways.
Flights from YVR will launch on May 4 and will operate year-round, using 160 seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, while flights from YYC will operate on a summer-seasonal basis, starting on June 7 using 76 seat Embraer E-175 aircraft. Both new services will offer a Business Class cabin, Main Cabin Extra seating and inflight WiFi.
Both services will be available to book from Dec. 4.
In addition, for 2018 American will also make the following capacity increases in Canada:
- Effective May 4, American will increase from two to three daily flights between Toronto and Washington and also between Ottawa and Philadelphia.
- American will extend its summer-seasonal service between Québec City and PHL for an extra month, running from June 7 until Nov. 3, 2018.
- Starting Feb. 15, American will increase from four to five daily flights between YYZ and New York LaGuardia and also upgrade two of these frequencies from E-145 to E-175 aircraft. The larger E-175s provide 26 additional seats, a Business Class cabin and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- American’s winter-seasonal service from Edmonton to Phoenix will be increasing to two daily flights between Dec. 16 and April 2 for the first time.
