A pair of convictions were recently handed out in regards to an online shopping service that operated in Ontario as an unregistered travel agent, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario said.
David Magazzinich and Dealathons.com Inc. each plead guilty to operating as a travel agent without registration, contrary to the Ontario Travel Industry Act, administered and enforced by TICO. Mr. Magazzinich and Dealathons.com Inc. operated in Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario. Dealathons.com Inc. has been sentenced to pay a fine of $2,000, while Mr. Magazzinich, identified on LinkedIn as CEO of Dealthons.com, received a suspended sentence.
Charges against Leon Elmaleh and Denise Elmaleh, owner of Dealathons.com according to her LinkedIn profile, were withdrawn at the request of the prosecutor.
