Ensemble's Travel With Purpose conference is currently underway in Seattle.
David Harris, CEO of Ensemble Travel Group, formally opened the conference yesterday and addressed several issues related to Ensemble and the industry.
"After more than 50 years in business, we had the best year in our company history in 2018, and this year Preferred Supplier sales from our members will eclipse $1.4 billion, which represents eight per cent year over year growth," Harris said.
Ensemble currently has 719 members in North America and 44 in Australia and New Zealand for a grand total of 763 member locations worldwide.
Moving towards a sustainable future
This year, the main theme of Ensemble's conference focuses on sustainability, and travelling with a purpose.
"We’re all aware that climate and sustainability are fast becoming the biggest issues across the globe," Harris said. "With people making more than seven billion trips annually, sustainability is increasingly impacting our industry. "More and more travellers are doing business with agencies that factor things like environmental and social sustainability into their travel planning equation. Put another way, increasingly people are traveling with purpose."
Several travel partners, whose values align with this year's conference theme, are currently attending, including solo travel specialist, Just You Holidays.
"Just You is part of a wider 'purpose' driven organization, so it's been great to connect with Ensemble members and learn about their individual missions and the purpose behind their businesses," said Nick Roberti, national sales manager, Just You Holidays. "Just You's mission is to change lives through travel, and I'm finding that our values align closely with Ensemble members, which always makes for great partnerships."
During the opening session, Harris stated that Ensemble will soon be announcing several new partnerships that will encourage agents to help their clients travel more consciously.
Moving forward, Ensemble also unveiled its future growth strategy which seeks to deliver on five fundamental pillars for its members:
- Build skills and training
- Create unique product offerings
- Innovative partnerships
- Analytics that create efficiency
- A holistic approach
