Yesterday afternoon during an exclusive media briefing in Dallas, Texas, PAX learned that Carnival Cruise Line and the Ensemble Travel Group will enter a multi-year preferred supplier partnership designed to expand Carnival’s distribution channel in the U.S. and Canada, while simultaneously boosting business for Ensemble in the popular contemporary sector.

The announcement came from Ensemble co-presidents Libbie Rice and Lindsay Pearlman, who were joined by Carnival’s Vice President of Sales & Trade Marketing, Adolfo Perez, who affectionately showed off a new mock Ensemble tattoo on his forearm to celebrate the new business agreement.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Ensemble as a preferred supplier and look forward to working closely with their highly respected network of travel agents across the United States and Canada,” Perez said. “We know that there are so many opportunities to help grow their overall cruise business with Carnival and we’re excited to collaboratively identify new ways to help enhance their already robust cruise sales when we launch our Ensemble Welcome program in November.”

So, why now? As Pearlman and Rice pointed out to a panel of journalists, the timing couldn’t have been better, citing a change in senior management and the investment in agency channels as key factors, as well as the investment and expansion in Carnival’s fleet.

“Most importantly is the commitment to the distribution channel, which is a significant switch from what it was years ago,” Pearlman said. “The members are looking for it and asking for it, and there’s already a level of support for Carnival within the marketplace. We support all of the sister companies and we do extremely well with them, so from an Ensemble perspective, it simply made sense because adding Carnival to the family as a whole solidifies that channel distribution within that family of companies.”

Carnival joins its fellow North American sister brands Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Cunard, and Seabourn as part of the World’s Leading Cruise Lines preferred supplier team with the Ensemble Travel Group.
