Caribbean Castles anticipates busy year for Windjammer, Valentin Imperial Maya in 2017

Caribbean Castles anticipates busy year for Windjammer, Valentin Imperial Maya in 2017

A busy year is ahead for Caribbean Castles Resorts & Villa Collection, if the popularity of its two centrepiece resorts is anything to go by. The Toronto-based company, driven by the husband-and-wife team of Chris and Jacqueline Stubbs, markets and promotes several luxury destinations in the Caribbean, including the recently-refurbished Windjammer Landing in scenic St. Lucia and Mexico’s five-star Hotel Valentin Imperial Maya.

Accumulating over fifty years of combined experience in the travel industry, the pair have gained what Jacqueline Stubbs describes as a ‘unique insight’ into marketing properties in the region – both from their time spent living and working in the Caribbean, and through their experience travelling with their young family.

One of the most prominent locations represented by the duo is the Windjammer Landing, a sprawling villa resort amidst the white sands of St. Lucia, whose 175 accommodations largely consist of one-to-five bedroom villas. Guests staying at the Windjammer on the all-inclusive package can enjoy complimentary watersports, while paddle boat yoga is offered for the price of US$12. Stubbs also emphasized the appeal of the Windjammer for travel agents, with incentives including the chance to stay for three complimentary nights at the property, with the option of adding extra nights for US$150 – all-inclusive – per night.

“We market the Windjammer with a passion,” Stubbs says. Travelling with a young family, she explains, has given the couple an acute appreciation of the merits of booking villa-based holiday accommodation. It’s for this reason that she feels the family-friendly Windjammer, which has recently undergone renovations to allow for a brand-new spa and gym, is such a good fit for the duo: they understand intimately the type of accommodation that’s best for families on vacation, and are ideally placed to promote and market this idyllic locale. “We see the needs of large families,” she adds, “because we have experienced it ourselves.”

On the other side of the company’s portfolio is the Hotel Valentin Imperial Maya, a five-star, adults-only, all-inclusive resort located near Cancun International Airport in the Riviera Maya. This hotel, which is located on a stretch of white sand beach named Playa Del Secreto, boasts one of the largest swimming pools in Mexico. The luxurious property is geared towards couples seeking a romantic getaway; again, Stubbs believes that the couple’s experience vacationing either with the family or simply together as a couple allows them to distinguish between the types of marketing suitable for the different locations they promote.

Unsurprisingly, the company anticipates a hectic 2017 as its key properties emerge from various stages of renovation. “It’ll be a busy year keeping clients and agents up to date with all the exciting changes that are being undergone at our properties,” says Stubbs.

Travel agents are encouraged to capitalise on the popularity of the Windjammer and enroll in the Windjammer Specialist online training program, which provides an in-depth insight into the property and its appeal, including its most recent upgrades.
